The Best Head Lice Remedy
Kill the Lice and Stop the Itch!
If you need a head louse treatment, don’t worry. The good news is that there are some effective methods to kill off an infestation. This is no doubt due to the fact that the number of infections has grown rapidly over the years.
If there is any good news in dealing with these bugs is that they aren’t dangerous to your health. Even though they do use your blood as a food source, they do NOT pass on diseases or blood borne pathogens like mosquitoes and other parasites. These insects are a annoyance and troublesome but are generally not hazardous to the persons health.
While researching this subject, you may have found that there are many so called "natural" remedies to cure a case of louse. Fact is however, there really are only 4 basic ways or methods to deal with the problem. Generally, all treatment options can actually be placed into 1 of these four groups.
There are a variety of different products that use essential oils but basically, they all can be grouped together because they all work for the most part the same way.
So here’s a breakdown of the four basic types of Head Louse Treatment Options.
1. Use a bug poison based shampoo . This works but you run the risk of having an allergic reaction to the insecticides used to kill the louse. You also need to be very careful because there are open sores on your child’s head from the louse. This is an open pathway for the bug poison to enter their body.
2. All mechanical means to remove the parasites and eggs involve carefully combing from hair follicle to the tip of the hair. It’s a big chore in someone with long hair. Still, it is an effective method of insect removal as long as you don’t miss even a single nit.
3. Essential Oils. These products use a variety of essential oils to disinfect and kill off the insects. These work well and are much safer than insecticide based shampoos. The scratching and itching caused by the sores and insects are also treated providing a measure of relief to the person with the infection.

4. Use a home remedy option. These are the food product method of trying to deal with head pediculosis. Pediculus humanus is a fancy term for a louse infestation.
In any event, home remedies suggest putting mayonnaise, peanut butter, grease, etc. etc. on the infected head, leaving it on for 8-10 hours, then trying to clean off the mess only to repeat if necessary. Overall, even if they work they’re usually so difficult to successfully use these home cures are at best, a poor head louse treatment strategy.
So decide which treatment option is preferred by you and your child. Be prepared for the other issues however if you chose a head louse treatment plan that’s difficult to use or poisonous. Consider that only one category of products, the essential oil products have the best opportunity to get rid of the problem without using poisons. Overall a good choice.
