Is There Really A Good Home Cure For Head Lice?

If you need a home cure for head louse, don’t worry. Getting rid of an infestation of head parasites may be a nuisance but it’s not difficult if you use the right treatment. With the ever growing number of head lice  infections, there has been a lot of work done on controlling these pests.

These creepy-crawly insects can definitely be a problem for the person infection but are seldom, if even dangerous to their health. These pests are a nuisance and can cause itchy scalp, bleeding sores, and head irritation but are generally considered harmless. Unlike other parasites, these insects do not carry disease or transfer illness causing blood borne disease.

The number of ways all the products and remedies offer to help get rid of the problem can be huge. In the end however, they all work basically to kill off the parasites in 1 of only 4 major ways. These include  insecticide based products ,  mechanical methods ,  essential oil products  and  home grown remedies .

2. All mechanical means to remove the parasites and eggs involve carefully combing from hair follicle to the tip of the hair. It’s a big chore in someone with long hair. Still, it is an effective method of insect removal as long as you don’t miss even a single nit .

3. Use essential oil shampoos. These are the best alternative way of treating a head pest problem. No need to worry about the poison and it works. The only thing about this is that you will probably need to shampoo several times to make certain everything has died and is gone.

Not a big deal because the ingredients are safe and effective for use on people. Essential oil shampoos also usually provide relief for the itching by naturally treating the sores that cause the person to scratch.

4. Use a home remedy option. These are the food product method of trying to deal with head pediculosis. Pediculosis is the dollar word for a head lice infestation.

In any event, home remedies suggest putting mayonnaise, peanut butter, grease, etc. etc. on the infected head, leaving it on for 8-10 hours, then trying to clean off the mess only to repeat if necessary. Overall, even if they work they’re usually so difficult to successfully use these home cures are at best, a poor home cure for head louse strategy.

If your infestation is mild, it’s possible that simply using a  nit comb  will be enough to act as your home cure for head louse that will end the pest problem. Miss even one egg however and be prepared to again fight the problem. Consider that only one category of products, the essential oil products have the best opportunity to get rid of the problem without using poisons. Overall a good choice.

Head Lice Treatment : Which Methods Work?

When you think about head lice you may feel pain and dread. It’s scary if you or someone you know get lice. But – if you are chilled by the thought of being yourself infected with lice – you are not the only one, and there is hope. Despite the starting shock, head lice treatment can be quite easy. You may choose between various methods, and they are usually quite successful in removing lice from your hair.
Find out if you have hair lice and related infection in the first place. Itchy scalp (from the lice biting the scalp) and visible nits, or lice eggs are common symptoms of an infection The nits generally resemble dandruff but are harder to dislodge.

Once you have decided that you really have lice, you need to choose a head lice treatment. There are many different treatments, but not all of them are completely tested and scientifically proven. For best possible results, you are better off using the tried and true methods. Fortunately there are a lot available.

The most drastic method of head lice treatment is also quite simple: shave your entire head. Without the hair to cling to, the lice will find your scalp a far less hospitable place to live, and will be more inclined to move on than remain. Of course, baldness might not match your personal sense of style. If so, don’t worry; other, more moderate solutions exist.

One very effective treatment for lice is combing the hair with a  special comb. All lice combs should remove both adult and young lice from the hair. Some combs are available which will also  remove nits . Before combing the  hair for lice, you should oil the comb. This will allow it to move through the hair more easily.

Lastly, it is possible to use a chemical solution for the killing of lice and their nits. But you should not use a chemical treatment on very young children. The chemical permethrin can be found in many over the counter lotions and shampoos.  Permethrin  can be used as an effective head lice treatment. Also, if the over the counter products are not effective, more effective treatments are available with a prescription.

Head lice can be a frightening experience but if you know how to get rid of head lice, you need not worry. Lice should be gone within one to two weeks after the start of head lice treatment. Follow-up inspection is always recommended due to the chance of re-infection.
